Carter Mason, is your average teen girl (and a bit of a tomboy) who lives in the small lakeside Louisiana town of Lake Monroe. Her life is turned upside down when her dad, Major Mason of the super-secret international Princess Protection Program, brings an honest-to-goodness South American princess home to live with them. Carter couldn't be more different from Princess Rosalinda (a.k.a. Rosie), and is seriously annoyed by Rosie's inability to adapt to "normal American teenage life". Fortunately, Carter has a good heart and promises to do her best to help Rosie fit in... even if it causes trouble later.
